FLAUNT2014 | Pop it Up!

FLAUNT2014 saw Thomasville Center for the Arts partner with Main Street Thomasville and Hurst Boiler to bring a month-long installation of murals and pop-up stores to The Bottom, a historic downtown district in Thomasville. This public art event helped kick start businesses, public art installations, and serves as an example of the power of community teamwork.

A GAME-CHANGING PARTNERSHIP

A Conversation with Jeff Hurst
00:00 / 06:33

Hurst Boiler had a rather simple beginning, opening their first shop in The Bottom behind their home in Thomasville, GA in 1967. Seventeen years later, Hurst became involved with Thomasville Center for the Arts and together made the decision to forge a partnership based on leveraging art and entrepreneurial spirit to bring vitality back to the Bottom. Public Art Director, Darlene Crosby Taylor, and Hurst Boiler Marketing Director, Jeff Hurst, reflect on this vision and its long-term impact on W Jackson Street.

FLAUNT2014 | Pop it Up!

From Benjamin Young, Co-Owner of Sturdy Brothers

Flaunt “Pop-it-Up” came at just the right time for our little company.  It really gave us a fighting chance to be downtown making in our own space.  We had just spent a long summer making products in a hot shed when we moved into our own storefront.  We were continually encouraged and inspired by the support from our local community, and TCA staff members. I believe now we can see the fruits of Flaunt by looking at the now thriving lower West Jackson street. Flaunt did wonders for our business and for the community surrounding us.

Help us document past projects.
