FEELS LIKE YESTERDAY

FLAUNT2015 | Rock on!

FLAUNT2015 saw Thomasville Center for the Arts partner with Main Street Thomasville and Hurst Boiler to bring a month-long installation of 70's Rock'n'Roll themed murals to Downtown Thomasville. Alongside these murals, the Center hosted a Battle of the Bands and a rock-inspired photography exhibition. This public art experience brought together different art forms and people to celebrate the power of music.

A Conversation with John Streets

Four guys were looking for a way to make their music legit. Thomasville Center for the Arts’ public art team was looking for emerging musicians to battle for prestige and prize money. Public Art Director, Darlene Crosby Taylor, and founder of Bleu Burden Band, John Streets, discuss how FLAUNT2015:  Rock On! gave this group the perfect platform to become a hometown success, while allowing them the freedom to express another side of themselves.

From Chris Lovelady, FLAUNT2015 winner for best of show mural and Wall Dog
“As a professional Wall Dog, I travel around the country revitalizing small towns through murals with an event that brings people from all over to watch as they are being painted— it not only drives tourism but brings a renewed excitement to all communities. FLAUNT is an opportunity for our community to see just what art can do for all of us.”
